Gone To Lunch

Darlene and I had to go try out a new restaurant out on the causeway that her hubby had raved about... it is sunny and bright, but COLD here today so it seemed like a good plan to us.

The Mobile skyline on I-10, just before the tunnel under the Mobile River. The odd looking building, middle left, is the courthouse...Mobilians call it "the Transformer" (like the robots) building. The tall one, middle right is the RSA tower, the one next to it is a hotel they've put a top on to match the RSA tower.

After we ate and were happy, we stopped along a section of the causeway to see if there were birds about... they saw us coming and soon we were mobbed by gulls looking for a handout. As you can see, it's low tide and a north wind, so there are a lot of mud flats showing. ( Looking southeast down the bay here)

We got our eyes on you.... coming in formation....

I like this one of some on the mud... look at all the bluish shadows like some modern art painting. The sun was bright and the overhead hovering birds made this a very interesting photo!

Like a scene out of "The Birds", the gulls were hovering around and over us...
The tall cranes in the distance are on the mouth of the Mobile River in the ship building area.

Darlene was putting out dog food for them. Hey, we are dog people here and we come prepared...you never know when you'll see some poor dog along the highway and you might need treats.....We come with multiple fold up chairs, too, but that's another story.

Come and get it!

They seem to like it...

Hope it doesn't hurt them... got to be better than white bread...which we can never remember to bring or save...probably because we've eaten it all.

Headed back home on I-10...We are driving due west here. Just to our north is the Cochran Bridge over the Mobile River....the top gives a great view of the river and boat traffic, but not fun to cross when it's windy!

Cool shots of the gulls. Great post, looks like they like dog food.

Nice images of gulls. I especially appreciate the gulls in flight... makes me think of the cover of the book "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" when I was growing up. Thanks for sharing!
