It was such a beautiful day...cool, but not cold, clear blue skies....a great day to check out the area. Darlene and I decided to ride down to the Grand Bay Wildlife Refuge because she'd never been there...so off we went.
We don't have trees that give us a lot of fall color, but the invasive plant called Chinese Tallow trees provide some color in the marsh scrub. Lovely reds, oranges and yellows.
We went all the way down to the boat ramp..which was packed with trucks and trailers of fishermen out enjoying this great day. There must be some herons around as they left their prints on the bank in the mud.
There was this one tiny crab scurrying about...
...and a lone gull sitting on the pier..
It was placid and so quite...
..then a couple of fishermen came back in... Lovely day, they said, but not much luck with big fish, only some bait fish.
Darlene's elderly Beagle, Schroeder, had never seen a large body of water before, so he was totally unprepared for rising water. Guess he thought he'd just trot right through that large puddle.... LOL! When it got up to his tender male parts, he came to a quick halt.
Since it was lunch time, we tooled off to Dog River to the River Shack for lunch. The humidity is way low and the air so clear we could see all the way across the bay to the Montrose area.
There were a few boats out and about, like this nice one...
...and another one just coming in under the bridge.
