For The Birds

My neighbor has her bird feeder right outside a large window....perfect for photographing our winter visitors without spooking them. These little sparrows are only here in the winter time.

I was hoping for a spectacular red male, but this female cardinal is charming on her own.

I was walking back to the house and took this photo of the Carolina Jasmine on the fence at the gate.

Then I happened to look up and saw 6 large birds circling high in the sky. At first I thought they were ravens, but turns out they were turkey vultures soaring this windy day....five to be exact.

I took the photos, then looked them up in my bird ID book... it's the reddish head and the two toned wings that ID'd the vultures.

....and the sixth bird was a red tailed hawk..

The hawk never came close enough for a good photo....

Magnificent to watch all these birds anyway....
