Bayous And Bays

I had to go down to the lower part of the county yesterday, so I thought I'd just make a photo journey while I was at it. I started at Bayou La Batre, a small village of shrimpers and fishermen.

I was surprised to see so many boats still in the bayou docking area this late in the morning.

These photos are taken from the grounds of the Catholic church where the Blessing Of The Fleet takes place earlier in the summer.

There's a monument and prayer for all those who go to sea.

Loved this turquoise colored hull/

A view further up the bayou.

The statue right behind the viewing stand on the edge of the bayou.

Then I went on down to Coden and drove along the bay. Lots of birds taking a noon day break.

Looks lonesome, doesn't he/she?

The bay is deceptive as to depth...a lone wader, a good way out, was poking along in the water, finding snacks.

A view of the marsh on the other side of the road.

Quiet, but hot! Another tranquil day on the bay.
