Calm Before The Crisis

Bayou la Batre - the colorful shrimp boats should not be here this time of the day. They should be way out in the Gulf, but those waters are closed now because of the massive oil spill in our Gulf.

Two fishermen in Portersville Bay out from Coden, Alabama. Catch'em while you can fellas.

How do we explain to these fellows there will be no food for them if the oil spill reaches their refuge and spoils their way of life? Gulls, pelicans and a cormorant take a mid-day rest.

An idyllic scene along the bay front just east of Coden.

The Coden inlet.

Sea birds line old pier pilings... left after Hurricane Katrina.

Brown pelicans, a variety of gulls and terns siesta between morning and evening feedings.

These two are obviously use to being fed by visitors to this little pier.

Looking back towards Coden on Portersville Bay Rd.
